21 of 23 people found the following review helpful great frame, cheap components, This review is from: Schwinn RS 5.0 Road Bike (700c Wheels) (Sports) I have had this bike for about 5 months now, the bike frame is very good (aluminum/carbon fiber forks) but the shifting componenets are not good at all, causing most of the problems... so, I would recommend this bike if you are thinking of having a good decent frame but are thinking -or would like to- upgrade the saddle, shifting components (cassette, chainrings (here is where I have had most of the problems since the material they are made of is super flexible and will bend just 'cause it feels like it, making the chain slip out of it, this happens on 40% of my rides) and front derailleur, etc) and maybe even the handlebar.I have had a lot of fun with this bike and I have put about 2000 miles on it already, I crushed head onto a Benz SUV that cut me off and stoped suddenly and the front wheel did not budge anything and taking into consideration that I was going at least about 20 miles per hour I can honestly say I was more than expecting the wheel to get damaged (to bend like... It looks nice, and its very light , the carbon fork and back part makes the ride smooth . It had a couple of things that needed to be replaced like the front tube that had a big hole before I touch the street and the plastic safety piece that is between the cassette and spokes that was moving and making a loud noise when riding. After those two things were replaced I have had no other problems bud no enough miles yet either to be able to recommend it to everyone 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Great bike. Here are some specs:, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Schwinn RS 5.0 Road Bike (700c Wheels) (Sports) 23.2 lbs fully assembledFront crankset is 50-34 Rear cassette is a 9 speed Shimano Sora 11-13-15-17-18-19-21-24-28. The listing says 7 speed which is incorrect. I was very happy to see 11 as the minimum. Most bikes seem to have a 12 as a minimum, as the general consensus has 11 placed only for the pros. I have a hard time understanding that philosophy. Front forks and rear triangle are indeed carbon fiber. This bike is very smooth to ride, probably around 50-75% reduction in road vibration compared to an all-aluminum setup. Even larger bumps are significantly dampened, not just the high-frequency pavement noise. If you've ridden on paint stripes on the road, it's similar to that. Or another way to put it, it was dark outside when I took my first ride and I thought the tires had lost air but when I checked them they were still at the full 125 psi. I plan to update performance when I have more data. Thus far on a ride around the... Read more |
